With the house being vacant since March, they gave us only the month of June for the closing. Other than an awesome trip out west to visit family (including a little layout/reno brainstorming), our time was dedicated to obtaining a good mortgage rate and finding insurance. Even with knob and tube wiring not being very popular with some insurance companies, we were able to get insurance for the property (thankfully). Kind words from friends and family about our upcoming adventure helped us stay on track and not have second thoughts about what we had taken on.
One fun surprise was a hello to the new neighbours leading to an invite to an upcoming block party. BBQs on front lawns and good food with supportive words - not bad.
