This morning it felt like Christmas. Rob and I went to the house to meet with the people from Amsted. I arrived and the street was full of Amsted trucks (sorry neighbours). Steve was walking around showing people the house and making introductions. We talked generally about the plans and about what is going to happen come January.
As for work, they started digging out the tree root mass in the backyard.
My aunt and uncle are here visiting from Prince George so a real blog post will have to wait until Sunday!
Fun, fun, fun.

We're enjoying following along with your blog. We're in a similar position to you in that we just bought an old place that needs lots of work in Ottawa as well. In case you're interested, we have a blog at www.bytownhouse.blogspot.com.
Can you post some pictures or examples of the Marvin windows you went with? Did you go with simulated lites or real ones?
Also, if/when you remove your old windows, if you're going to throw them away, we'd love to have them (even if it's just to salvage some older glass), some of them may match our house and we're going to try to repair our old windows instead of replacing them wherever possible.
Keep posting! And good luck with the renovations.
That is great about your house renovaiton project. I had fun checking out your blog! I can totally relate to your comment about how hard it is to decide on a look when the project seems so big.
As for windows, we haven't actually made a decision yet about the manufacturer. Marvin windows are gorgeous but they are the "porche" version of windows so we might be able to go with them in the end. They have the best "green policies" on their website but are also not made in Canada.
The other company we checked out is Laflamme (made in Quebec). At the moment, we really like Golden Windows (made in Kitchener). The salesperson is great and they are the only one with a local service rep. I will keep you posted.
We are making a real effort to salvage things so we will definitely be in touch about the old windows.
