Side Yard

The first photo is our of corner plot where we are thinking of planting some hostas donated by friends. The other photos are of the bush near our side door. If you have any idea what this is, feel free to post a comment. If you want to see it full grown, check out one of the first posts from a year ago when we bought the house. I am definitely a gardening rookie.

Hostas may not be a good choice for this corner area. It will be exposed to a lot of sun, and hostas are more of a shade plant. I would plant them in front of your front porch, or somewhere with less direct sun exposure.

awesome - thanks for the info.

Also, I have since learned that the plant in the photo is a spirna (spelling?).

I walked by and checked out your plant. It is indeed a spirea, a bridal wreath spirea. It has tiny white flowers in sprays all along the branches in the spring. I'm sure you will enjoy it. It looks amazing when it is in full bloom!

Have fun next weekend! I wish I could be here to help you celebrate, even vicariously.
