Would you really call this gardening?

Having never really done any gardening before, our Sunday adventure should referred to using words like destruction, cleansing or survival. With the house being vacant for a while, the thistles had taken over the lawn with the help of other unidentifiable weeds and lots of little saplings. Our goal was not to start creating a new lawn/garden space right away but to start the process of taking control over the vegetation. Wild flowers are lovely but a jungle for a sidewalk is not a good way to make friends with the neighbours. The state of the eaves troughs could really be seen as the beginning of a green roof.

Pathways through the property were created, not to mention better views, as various borrowed pieces of gardening equipment were used to clear the property - thank you all.

Eight yard waste bags later (and a sore back)...
