Geothermal Metering

One thing that Rob and I talked about doing when considering whether or not to go with a geothermal heating/cooling system is installing something to track the energy requirements. Even though we are told that we will meet 100% of our heating and cooling demands with the system, you still need the compressor / forced air system. By metering the furnace we will be able to figure out the true cost of having the system over time.

After some digging around, it has been suggested that we install a device called "Ted 1001-x energy detective". This can be purchase through OPTIMUM ENERGY PRODUCTS Ltd. #333 11979-40 Street Calgary AB T2Z 3M4. Phone (403) 256 3636, www.theenergydetective.com. It will require a hook up by an electrician and will cost about $200.00 + labour.

Any thoughts?
